Frequently Asked Questions

What is your cancellation policy?

I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. This means that if you cancel or miss an appointment, regardless of the reason, you will be asked to pay the full cost of the session you booked.

If you need to reschedule your appointment within 24 hours of your original time, and there is an availability for rescheduling to a slot within the same week, you will not be charged a cancellation fee. However, if there is not an availability within the same week, and we need to reschedule to the following week or further out, we will need to charge a cancellation fee.

This is to ensure that other people who need to access treatment can have the chance to schedule during the time you have needed to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

How many treatments will I need?

Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine work cumulatively, and best results can come over a series of treatments. For acute issues I recommend a series of 6 treatments, and for chronic issues i recommend 12 treatments. Biweekly or monthly tune-ups after the initial series can help prolong the effect of the treatment. In our new patient consultation we can decide the treatment plan based on what we discuss.

Do the needles hurt?

You may feel a small prick or some momentary discomfort, but treatment is not meant to induce pain. If the initial discomfort does not subside in a few seconds, we will adjust the needles to be supportive of your rest and relaxation.

Do you take insurance?

I am in network with a limited number of insurance companies such as United Healthcare and I bill out of network for some PPOs. i can provide a superbill for reimbursement before your first treatment. If you are curious about if your insurance will cover your treatment, it is important that you send me a picture of your insurance card and date of birth at least 48 hours before your appointment for verification of coverage. I will not be able to accept your insurance if you haven’t verified it with me before the day of your appointment.

What can I expect during treatment?

Before your visit, please fill out the paperwork in your patient portal, which I send you upon booking your first visit.
During your first visit, we will have your new patient consultation, when we will go over your medical history, your symptoms, and your chief complaints and will create your treatment plan.
Based on your treatment plan, you will receive acupuncture and possibly cupping as appropriate. Treatment takes place laying down and will last between 30-45 minutes, which people often experience as restful and relaxing. Afterwards, you may be prescribed herbal medicines to further support the healing effects of the treatment, and be offered nutritional and lifestyle coaching. Over time, the hope is that your life and health will be transformed by the gradual shifts that will occur.
Acupuncture and herbal medicine can be effective for many physical, emotional and energetic concerns and ailments. It is a whole system of medicine, practiced for 5000 years, including through countless epidemics
